- Market Town Destination Plans
Alison has worked with many market towns in the last three years, mostly in the West Midlands and North East England. Working with Miller Research in Northumbria, Alison developed a 'Market Town Welcome' model which has now been applied in 13 towns across Northumberland, Durham and Cleveland. In each town local businesses and groups collectively help identify the town's offer for visitors - its unique features, strengths and weaknesses. The current and future visitor markets are agreed and a vision and action plan developed during several workshops. The aim is to strengthen each town's identity and attractiveness as a destination for visitors by making more of its local distinctiveness and to thereby support the local economy.
- Church Stretton - Sustainable Tourism Strategy and Marketing Plan
Alison has produced a Sustainable Tourism Strategy for Church Stretton working with partners in the town and the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The strategy encourages
tourism businesses to make the most of the fantastic landscape,
wonderful walking and outdoor recreation opportunities to attract nature loving
visitors. Alison has developed an action plan for Church Stretton
groups and businesses, including ideas for tourism
businesses to go green, promote local produce and wildlife. More recently Alison worked with Katie Foster to write a complementary Marketing Plan for Church Stretton which the local Tourism Group is now implementing.
